New bikes for 2021!

A whole raft of new motorcycles have already been confirmed and unveiled for next year, with more still to come. Here’s our pick of the best so far...

Bye! The bikes that are going in 2021

It’s always exciting to see the new crop of new models being launched but while 2021’s Euro 5 emissions rules mean there’s a bumper turnout of updates this year they also sign the death warrant for some old favourites that will soon disappear from showrooms for good.

It’s hard to argue with the logic behind tighter emissions rules, and Euro 5 has once again proved that the world’s motorcycle designers are a clever bunch when it comes to making bikes more efficient than ever before while still adding more performance, smoother power delivery and improved response. But for some bikes, meeting those new rules simply isn’t viable without vast investment that manufacturers couldn’t hope to recoup in sales.

These are some of the most significant models that we’re waving off in 2021.

Although Euro 5 is in force from 1st January 2021, ‘end of series’ rules mean that manufacturers have up to two years to clear unsold stocks, so bikes will still be allowed to be sold brand new while there are any left. But if you want a new example of any of the machines mentioned below, you’d better get a move on before they’re all gone.

Here are the 24 most exciting electric cars coming in 2021

The motor industry is to face more change this decade than in its last century, as bans on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars arrive by 2025 in Norway, followed in 2030 by the UK, Denmark, Germany, India and Sweden.

For the UK ban specifically, the government has said all new vehicles sold from 2030 onwards must be hybrid or fully electric. The sale of new hybrids is to be outlawed from 2035.

Nine years isn’t very long for the car industry, an historically slow-moving beast that plans new models years in advance and retains engine designs for decades. Arguably kick-started by Tesla eight years ago, the shift to electricity has picked up pace in the last couple of years, and for 2021 that trend will continue.

Dozens of new electric cars are expected from almost all mainstream manufacturers, and for almost every budget. Here is a look ahead at the new electric cars we will be excited to see in 2021.

Best new cars coming in 2021 and beyond

Our list of the best new cars coming in 2021 illustrates where the industry is heading. It’s fair to say that the car market is going through something of a revolution at the moment, and we’re publishing reviews and articles about new SUVs and electric cars more frequently than ever before. Buyers can’t seem to get enough of SUVs, and many manufacturers are turning to battery power as a greener alternative to petrol and diesel.

EV technology is rapidly improving, and there are now cars with plenty of range for all but the highest-mileage drivers. Charging times are coming down, and the availability of charging points is increasing almost every week. Prices are still higher than an equivalent petrol or diesel car, but we’ll start to see costs coming down in the next few years. Take a look at our guides to the best electric cars and cheapest electric cars currently available.

The 2020 Honda Motorcycle Lineup + Our Take On Each Model

For 2020, Honda motorcycles has one of its best lineups in a while. The company came out with a new Fireblade at EICMA 2019, and the company has plenty of fun and sometimes goofy smaller-displacement models.

It’s true what they say, you do meet nice people on a Honda. Is the motorcycle company always pushing the envelope in the way I would want them to? No, but I’m not dissatisfied with what they do offer. The Africa Twin, CBR-1000RR-R, and the Gold Wing are all killer bikes, and the rest of the lineup is darn commendable, too.

New electric cars 2020: What’s coming and when?

Keeping track of every new car and knowing when they’re due to go on sale can be tough, especially if you’re only interested in EVs.

There are so many due to arrive over the next twelve months, so it’s worth learning how long you’ll be waiting for the one you want to go on sale. 2019 saw new entrants to the category from the likes of AudiMercedes and MG, with major launches from well-known electric pioneers such as TeslaNissan and Renault all set to follow.

With the growth of internet shopping, the van market continues to thrive, as more and more customers have parcels delivered to their homes & place of work. Parcel delivery has grown rapidly and the demand for new vans to cater for this has grown alongside. However, whilst electric vans are already here, their limited range on a single charge, typically 50 – 100 miles, means that for most companies, diesel is still the preferred choice. With many European cities now charging drivers who enter them, especially if they’re in older diesels, whilst allowing cleaner newer powered vehicles in free of charge, the van manufactures have had to move fast in updating their old Euro 6 diesel unit. The latest brand to do just this, is the FCA Group, with their large panel van the Fiat Professional Ducato, which has been updated for 2020.

The best-selling Fiat Professional vehicle the Ducato, is now offered with a range of improved Euro6D engines, including a new 9-Speed automatic transmission with latest-generation torque converter. Fiat have also taken the opportunity to upgrade the safety & tech on the range, adding advanced ADAS driving assist systems, the latest-generation infotainment system and they’ve also revised the exterior.

30 March 2020

These days the term ‘hybrid’ gets bandied about to describe everything from a £150,000 super GT with a plug socket to a £13,000 supermini with stop-start.

As electrification technologies in new cars have diversified it’s become a less and less useful descriptive term. And yet, as diesel engines have been vilified by the court of public opinion and the goal of moving to full electric mobility is moved ever closer, more and more of us have decided we want a hybrid now – whatever that term should happen to mean.
